Challenge Coin Video

Brian Walker, K9BKW, has created a 3D video of a challenge coin exchange between Bob Inderbitzen, NQ1R, of ARRL and Jim Wilson, K5ND, national radio scouting committee chairman. This happened in the ARRL Expo at the Dayton Hamvention. Bob has generously provided booth space for Radio Scouting in the ARRL Expo for several years. This year he worked with Larry Wolfgang, WR1B , ARRL Editor of QEX Magazine to provide a virtual mountain of ARRL publications and documents for the K2BSA Jamboree Operation.

You can see the video at http://youtu.be/2sMGUJvtvXs When you see Bob or Larry please share your thanks for all their support for Radio Scouting. Also check out the work of Brian Walker at Space Jamboree and if you’re nearby, plan to attend or support this great event.

Jamboree Live!

We added a page on how to contact K2BSA during the Jamboree, whether you are at the Jamboree or at home. We would really appreciate you getting on the air and contacting K2BSA to communicate with  Scouts who are going through the demonstration station and/or completing a contact for their Radio Merit Badge. We look forward to working you.

Dayton Drill Success

May 13 to 19 twenty K2BSA Jamboree staff members arrived at the Miami Valley Scout Council’s Cricket Holler Training Center to set up all the gear from Icom, SteppIR, and Array Solutions, our Jamboree sponsors. You can read all about it at the Dayton Drill Page. Check out the slide show.

JOTA Webinar

The JOTA webinar we held this week is now posted online with the slide deck in Power Point and PDF as well as a video of the slides and audio. The audience is Scout Council International Representatives and other Scouting volunteers. It’s a basic overview of amateur radio and Jamboree on the Air for those new to the subject. You can see it at http://www.scouting.org/jota/Webinars.aspx

The turnout was good with a bonus of Larry Wolfgang, WR1B, from ARRL getting on to discuss the ARRL JOTA resources as well as Field Day. The webinar also covers Jamboree on the Internet.

Check it out.
