Radio Scouting is the intersection of Scouting and amateur radio. As such it introduces Scouts to the fun, technology and magic of amateur radio. It does this through the power of the world’s largest Scouting event, Jamboree on the Air, with over 700,000 Scouts engaged in connecting with one another through amateur radio the third weekend of October.
As the chart shows below, it uses JOTA as an introduction followed by the rank advancement of the Radio Merit Badge, with right at 7,000 earned by Scouts each year. It then goes on to the special recognition of Morse Code proficiency and uniform recognition of earning an amateur radio license.
We hope you’ll use the resources of this site to learn more and activate your own efforts around Radio Scouting.
