Please scan down the page to vote on officers for the 2018 and 2018 calendar years. Also vote on changes to the K2BSA ARA constitution and bylaws.

Officer Position Descriptions

Here’s the position descriptions as drafted by the current officers. Vote on including these descriptions in the constitution and bylaws below.

President: The President shall preside at all meetings of the Association, and conduct the same according to the rules adopted. S/He shall enforce due observance of the Constitution and Bylaws; decide all questions of order; sign all official documents that are adopted by the Association, and perform all other duties pertaining to the office of the president. The President shall be responsible to the membership for the supervision of the elected and appointed staff and all committees.

Vice President: The Vice President shall assume all the duties of the President in the absence of the latter. In addition, s/he shall be responsible for planning and organizing the meetings and activities of the Association. As requested by the President, the Vice President will chair committees.

Secretary: The Secretary shall keep a record of the proceedings of all Association meetings, keep a roll of all members, and submit membership applications to the Membership Committee for action. S/He shall also maintain a record of all Association equipment, which reflects its location, condition, and disposition. The Secretary shall also carry on all correspondence, read communications at each meeting of the Association, and mail written notices to each member.

Treasurer: The Treasurer shall receive and receipt all monies paid to the Association; keep an accurate account of all monies received and expended; and pay no bills and incur no debt without proper authorization by the Association or its officers in accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws. The Treasurer shall make available all records and materials of office for audit in accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws. At the end of the Treasurer’s term, s/he shall turn over all Association records in his/her possession belonging to the Association to the succeeding Treasurer.

Officer Candidates

President: Jim Wilson, K5ND, current K2BSA ARA President and License Trustee. Director for amateur radio operation at 2013 and 2017 National Scout Jamborees. National Jamboree on the Air Coordinator and member of the World JOTA-JOTI Team. Serves on the International Committee at the Longhorn Scout Council.

Vice President: William Stearns, NE4RD, currently supporting all K2BSA ARA media outreach across a wide variety of media outlets and podcasts including serving as Amateur Radio Newsline Scouting correspondent. He serves as an amateur radio elmer for other hams through the Linux in the Ham Shack podcast. He’s active in the Montana Council as Troop 7 Committee Chair and served on the 2017 National Scout Jamboree staff.

Secretary: Donald Sonnefeld, KD2FIL, current K2BSA ARA Secretary. Currently serving as Scoutmaster, Training Committee, and Radio Scouting Committee Chair for the Greater Niagara Council. Previously served on the Executive Board at the Greater Yosemite Council. Drives Jamboree on the Air in his council and seeks to expand amateur radio within the Scouting movement.

Treasurer: Mike Crownover, AD5A, serves on the Executive Board of the Alamo Area Council and is past President. Also served as staff member on the K2BSA team at the 2017 National Scout Jamboree where he was the first to activate Garden Ground at the Summit, for Summits on the Air. He’s an active SOTA Mountain Goat, #1 DXCC Honor Roll, and also activates Islands on the Air. He holds a degree in accounting.
