We’ve just spotted this video of the formal announcement of the ICOM America sponsorship of the Boy Scouts of America’s 2013 Jamboree operation of K2BSA and the local council loan station program. It happened at the ICOM Dealer dinner the evening before the Dayton Hamvention opened. It’s great to see this hit the ham radio media and particularly to see first hand Ray Novak, N9JA, from ICOM America, the visionary leader responsible for this fantastic advancement for Radio Scouting.

You can see the link here: Amateur Logic TV, Episode 40, Dayton 2012. The announcement is about 7 minutes into the video.

When you see Ray at a ham radio show near you, please thank him for his support of Radio Scouting.

Great write-up on the BSA Morse Code Interpreter Strip by Khrystyne Keane, K1SFA, in her Happenings column in the July 2012 issue, see page 73. I’ve included a scan of the page here:  QST July 2012: BSA of Offer Morse Code Interpreter Strip.

Icom Station Loans

As previously noted on these pages, Icom America and the Boy Scouts of America have entered into a sponsorship agreement. One aspect of that agreement is that Icom America will provide up to 10 complete amateur radio stations for use by local Scout councils beginning in 2012 and extending through 2015. Stations can be requested for long-term development loan stations and for event loan stations. You can find the details, application, and loan agreement here.

Ham Radio NOW

I spent some time in front of television cameras at Dayton. Here’s the link to the interview conducted by Gary, KN4AQ from Ham Radio NOW on Radio Scouting. Select Part 1 — Friday of Episode 12C Hamvention Tour at the 2012 Dayton Hamvention The interview with me and Ray Novak, N9JA, from Icom starts at 17:06 and runs for the next 17 minutes.
