Gulf Stream Council is hosting a Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) Camporee at Tanah Keeta Scout Camp October 16 – 18, 2026.Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) is an international Scouting jamboree held annually on the third weekend of October. It’s to commemorates the first long-distance amateur radio contact in 1922 between a troop in London, England, and a troop in Sidney, Australia. By attending JOTA, you’ll be part of the world’s largest amateur radio scouting event that promotes friendship and global citizenship.
Additionally, attending JOTA will satisfy requirement 7E of the “Citizenship in The World” merit badge. It’s a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a great weekend of camping with your troop while learning and using amateur radios (ham radios). Activities include lashing together a radio antenna tower, participating in a radio fox hunt (find the hidden transmitter), contests, experiencing a council fire, meeting members from local amateur radio clubs, learning how to become a licensed amateur radio operator, seeing demonstrations of technology, getting help programming your radio, attending FCC Testing Sessions, great food with an international theme, and much more.
