Radio Scouting at Early Jamborees

1969 Jamboree —  July 16 to 22, 1969, KF7BSA was in operation from Farragut State Park, Idaho. K2BFW/7, the station of the Boys’ Life Radio Club, was in operation from the Boys’ Life Tent.

1967 World Scout Jamboree — K7WSJ was in operation from Farragut State Park, Idaho.

1964 Jamboree — K3BSA was in operation from Valley Forge, PA.

1960 Jamboree — K0BSA was in operation from Colorado Springs, CO.

1957 Jamboree — K3BSA was in operation from Valley Forge, PA. For the closing ceremony K3BSA had a scheduled QSO with KC4USA and recorded the voice of Explorer Scout Dick Chappell, who was with the polar expedition, reciting the Scout Oath. The tape was played back to more than 50,000 at the main arena for the closing show.

1953 Jamboree — K6BSA was in operation from Irvine Ranch, CA. Boys’ Life editor Harry Harchar, W2GND, was at the controls on occasion.
