DESCRIPTION:Pack 19 Huntersville will be spending their Fall Family Campout at Stone Mountain\, NC. As part of our activity schedule\, we will be running a Radio Cub Scout Adventure which qualifies each Cub Scout to earn a patch for participation. The adventure includes 4 activities\, 1. HT scavenger hunt 2. Morse Code Deciphering 3. Fox Hunting and 4. HF communications with a portable Yaesu 891 set up with a dipole aerial primarily on the 20 and 40 meter bands.

DESCRIPTION:At our Jamboree on the Air event near Tulsa\, Oklahoma\, We share the hobby of Amateur Ham Radio with Scouts/Scouters of All ages! We have several local radio clubs help support the event with ham station operators and their radio equipment. We introduce VHF/UHF/HF and CW modes as well as digital. It offers a chance to try for the “Morse Code” interpreter strip. Other activities include the “Radio” Merit badge class\, a Fox Hunt using a directional antenna and hand held 5-watt HT receiver and the opportunity to take the FCC’s 35 question Technician license test while there. We are very blessed to have a generous private donor who also rewards Youth Scouts a new HT radio for passing! 73 Dave W5PPA

SUMMARY:K2BSA/4 - Jamboree On The Air - Jupiter\, FL
DESCRIPTION:Last Year we were K2BSA /4. We had a Scout earn that their FCC license at our JOTA Camporee 2024. This scout was presented with the BSA Amateur Radio Operator Strip at the council fire and a flyer on how to get a free HT Radio. We had 197 participants at GSC JOTA Camporee 2024. \nGulf Stream Council is hosting a Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) Camporee. This international jamboree is held annually on the 3rd weekend of October and uses communication technology to connect Scouts from around the world. Be a part of the world’s largest amateur radio scouting event that promotes friendship and global citizenship. Attending JOTA will satisfy requirement 7E of the Citizenship in The World Merit Badge. Activities include learning and using amateur radios (ham radios)\, lashing together a radio antenna tower\, radio fox hunt (find the hidden transmitter)\, contests\, council fire\, meet members from local amateur radio clubs\, learn about how to become a license amateur radio operator\, see demonstration of technology\, get help programming your radio\, take the FFC licensing exam\, and more. Enjoy a great weekend of camping. \nScouts can sign up for only ONE Merit Badges class. The MB class will be 4 hours block either in the morning or afternoon. Classes are limited to ten scouts. Some merit badge will have prerequisites. Scouts wanting to take and pass the FCC exam should get the Gordon West 2022-2026 Technician Class Book and start studying now. There are many free study resources\, Ask WS4BSA for details. When not in merit badge class scouts should get on the radios and make contact around the world. See the JOTA Camporee 2025 Leaders guide for details. \nThe registration fee includes a full weekend of camping\, meals\, activities\, and a JOTA patch. Meals will be served out of the dining hall on Saturday and Sunday breakfast. There will be NO day campers for scouts. There will be NO provisional campers so sign up and attend as unit. If units are hungry on Friday night visit the NYLT fundraisers Grill for dinner.

DESCRIPTION:Jamboree on the Air is coming! The third weekend in October is designated for the largest annual gathering of scouting world wide. This event takes place over radio and Internet – connecting local scouts to their peers around the country and the world. This year\, a group of volunteers is organizing an opportunity for scouts in central Iowa to participate. We will be conducting our event at the Maytag Scout Center on Saturday\, October 18\, 2025\, beginning at 8am for the Merit Badge and 10am for the open stations. \nRadio Merit Badge: \nFor our Scouts BSA attendees\, we will work towards the Radio Merit Badge. You will learn what radio is and get hands on learning through the various types of radio stations and modes (limited to the first 30 scouts to register). \nOpen Stations: \nIf the Radio Merit Badge slots are full\, Scouts BSA can still “Get on the Air” from 10am to 2pm. All Scouts andCub Scouts (with adult partners) can have fun with our hands-on technical and educational stations from 10am to 2pm.

DESCRIPTION:The Club KL7JFU members will set up go kits and portable ops and operate Saturday and tear down Saturday evening around 1600. We need about a dozen folks or more to support this\, excellent training opportunity. We will operate DMR and HF\, 2 meter and Valley Packet Bring your equipment\, coordinate with Scott/KL7SLM & Don/KL7JFT\, setup and tear down crews\, coordinate with Don/KL7JFT folks to interface and training folks We’ll testing prior to the operation and assist the Cubs operate. Make sure the kids log books get signed and attendance list get completed. Possibly coordinate with Kathy/KL7KO to run packet\, if it will work from the site.
